FREE Sacramento Zoo Admission with Tillamook’s Loaf Love Tour

Tillamook Cheese, the 102-year-old, farmer-owned cheese brand that has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s premier natural cheese makers, and its “Loaf Love Tour,” the second annual cross-country event dedicated to “bringing tasty cheese to the people,” is returning to Sacramento from July 25th to August 14th. As a fun way to share the “Loaf Love” with Sacramento-area residents, The Loaf Love Tour will be offering *FREE* admission to the Sacramento Zoo on Saturday, July 30th for the first 100 fans who sport their brightest & wildest Tillamook Cheese orange.* (Orange-clad fans arriving after the first 100 tickets will receive $1 off admission.) Once inside, zoo-goers will have the chance to experience the Loaf Love Tour and receive cheese samples, coupons & more. The Loaf Love Tour will visit grocery stores, farmers’ markets and special events, educating attendees about Tillamook Cheese while sampling their all-natural cheddars made in the Pacific Northwest using only the highest-quality milk from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones.

*Free entry for the first 100 eligible participants only. Free entry starting at 9:00AM until limit reached. Participating fans may check-in at the Tillamook Baby Loaf bus adjacent to the Sacramento ticketing booth. To win, attendees must be wearing orange. Limit one free entry per person, no monetary value.

Sacramento Zoo *FREE* Days

Thanks to Target’s *FREE* Admission Days, you can take your family to the Sacramento Zoo on Mondays, August 16, 23 and 30 at no charge!

Get in a few last visits to the monkeys, lemurs and lions before your own little wild animals go back to school. Zoo hours on Mondays are 9AM to 4PM.

Zoo Ice Cream Safari + Fairytale Town Camp Out

Treat your taste buds to delicious ice cream concoctions, cones and sundaes! Enjoy all-you-can-eat Baskin Robbins ice cream and Coca Cola beverages at the Sacramento Zoo’s Ice Cream Safari on Saturday, July 24 from 4PM to 8PM. There will also be family entertainment, face painting, a “GiRaffle” for great prizes, and access to the whole zoo. There will also be hot dogs and veggie burgers for purchase at the event.

Admission to the Ice Cream Safari is $17 for adults, $13 for ages 3-12 and *FREE* for children 2 and younger. Sacramento Zoological Society members receive a $2 discount per ticket.

Since you’ll already be in the area, after the Ice Cream Safari you can head over to Fairytale Town and attend the family camp out! Bring your sleeping bags & tents for a memorable night at Humpty’s house. This fun-filled sleepover includes a special theater performance, arts & crafts, a scavenger hunt adventure, bedtime stories and a sing-a-long. Participation is $20 for ages 3-12 and $30 for 13 and older. Admission includes all activities, an evening snack and a light breakfast.

Twilight Thursdays at the Sacramento Zoo

Twilight Thursdays at the Sacramento Zoo begin June 17 and run through July 29. Seven Thursdays of hot cars, live music, good food and cool drinks. Each Thursday from 5:30-8:00PM you can enjoy live music featuring local bands and a car show with local car-clubs. Dinner and drink specials will also be available for purchase at the Zoo’s Kampala Café. The Zoo will be open extended hours for summer enjoyment until 8:00PM.

California Celebration at the Sacramento Zoo

The Sacramento Zoo is celebrating California this Saturday. Regardless of how you feel about the political or economic status of our state, you can still come to the Sacramento Zoo for a day of cultural entertainment, music, dance and information from the rich cultural diversity that defines California.

Local museums, historical societies, genealogy groups, plus arts and crafts for great family fun are all included with regular Zoo admission or Sacramento Zoo membership. Admission to the Sacramento Zoo is $11 for adults, $10.25 for seniors, $7 ages 3-12 and *FREE* under 3.

Are you as fast as a hare or as slow as a tortoise? Find out between 7AM and 12PM on Sunday, April 11th at the 30th Annual ZooZoom benefiting the Sacramento Zoo.

There are options for the whole family, from a 5K run/walk to a 10K run. Both races will lead participants through Land Park and the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding the Zoo.

For ages 4 and younger there will be a 220-yard run, for ages 5-6 a 440-yard run, for kids 7-9 a half-mile run and for those ages 10-12 a mile run sponsored by Saucony.

All kids (ages 4-12) that enter the Saucony “Run For Good” Fun Runs will receive a special shirt, race number 1, and a finish medal!

Grant money is available to area schools that have the most total runners and the highest percentage of kid’s entering the Saucony “Run For Good” Fun Runs.  Children must be 12 years or under to be included in the school totals making a particular school eligible for grant money. Children 12 years and under entering the 5K race are also eligible for inclusion.

Here is the schedule of events:

  • 6:45-9:30AM Registration/Packet Pick-up open
  • 8:00AM 5K Run/Walk
  • 8:35AM 10K Run
  • 9:30AM 5K awards ceremony
  • 10:00AM Saucony Run for Good Fun Runs
  • 10:30AM 10K awards ceremony

Afterwards, enjoy some fun at the post race party. Just show your race number as you enter the Zoo for *FREE* admission on race day. Complimentary refreshments for all runners will also be provided.

Registration fees are as follows:
5K/10K with a t-shirt – $30
5K or 10K without a t-shirt – $25
Saucony Run for Good Kids Fun Run – $15

Earth Fest + Spring Eggstravaganza

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than by visiting the animals we share the Earth with. The Sacramento Zoo Earth Day party is on April 3rd and will have crafts, entertainment and activities.  Participants will include environmental and conservation organizations, nature clubs, recycling businesses and more. Don’t forget to stop by the Recycle Rummage Sale inside the Kampala center for a great bargain.

 Earth Fest at the Sacramento Zoo takes place from 9AM to 4PM with a wildlife stage show at 11AM. All activities are included with zoo admission. Admission is $11 general, $10.25 seniors, $7 ages 3-12 and *FREE* 2 and younger.

Since you’ll be in the area, why not extend your visit and stop by Fairytale Town for their Spring Eggstravaganza?

Join us for a weekend filled with egg hunts, prizes, spring arts & crafts, pictures with Peter Cottontail (additional cost) and puppet shows! Daily egg hunts will be held at 12PM, 1PM & 2PM promptly, hunt areas are separated by age group as follows, 0 – 3yrs, 4 – 6yrs & 7 – 12 yrs. Puppet Art Theater will be performing  Bunny Boot Camp in the Children’s Theater at 12:30PM, 1:30PM & 2:30PM.

Fairytale Town’s Spring Eggstravaganza takes place both Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 4 from 11AM to 3PM and is included in the price of admission (puppet show tickets are $1 for members and $2 for nonmembers.) Admission to Fairytale Town is $4.50 general and *FREE* ages 2 and younger.

Annual Free Museum Day 2010

Whether you’ve followed East Sacramento Mom for a while now or are new to the site, you probably know we are big supporters of Sacramento’s museums. This Saturday is a great opportunity for you and your families to try out a new museum, revisit a favorite, or get acquainted with a local museum for the first time. Annual *FREE* Museum Day is this Saturday, February 6th!

Twenty-six (did you know we had that many?!) greater Sacramento area museums will be offering *FREE* admission, all day long, during the 12th Annual Sacramento Museum Day. This event is presented by the Sacramento Association of Museums and takes place from 10AM to 4PM.

Museum Day, a Sacramento cultural tradition, invites all members of the community to experience the Capital City’s incredible wealth of art, history, science and wildlife at numerous participating museums AT NO COST.
