February at the Crocker Art Museum

You may or may not know that we at East Sac Mom are huge supporters of the arts, and exposing our children to both local and global culture. Is there a better place in Sacramento to do that than the Crocker? You may be surprised to find out that they have tons of activities for families with children of all ages!

Friday, February 18, 6PM-Saturday, February 19, 8AM
Family Sleepover: Sleeping with the Gods
Gather your family and friends, your sleeping bags, and spend the night at the Museum. Watch the action-packed adventure movie “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightening Thief” (PG, 118 minutes), go on a “Myth and Legends” treasure hunt, and paint vases in the style of ancient Greek potters. Late night snacks and a continental breakfast will be provided. Ask about discounts for groups of seven or more, including community groups and birthday parties. $65 members; $85 nonmembers.

Sunday, February 20, 11AM
Drop, Yak, Splat! A Museum Adventure for Families
Different artworks will provide inspiration for a stimulating gallery experience for families and children of all ages. Free with museum admission.

Monday, February 21, 10AM-5PM
President’s Day
Hear the Sacramento Youth Symphony perform patriotic songs, such as “America the Beautiful” and “My Country ‘Tis of Thee,” at 2PM. Discover works of art celebrating the USA on a “Patriotic Tour” at 10:15AM, noon, and 2PM. From noon to 3PM, explore the meaning of our nation’s symbols while making a paper version of our national flower, and putting together an Uncle Sam-style top hat.
