I’ve got to hand it to whoever comes up with the awesome after-school activities that are hosted at the McKinley Library each month– there is such a variety in themes and activities and they all seem to be timed perfectly. This week, for example, your school-aged child can join the Friends of McKinley Library in making paper gardens and “lovely paper flowers that won’t wilt”. Just in time for Mother’s Day! The paper gardens workshop will take place on Thursday, May 6th from3:30-4:30PM.
The McKinley Library fun isn’t just reserved for the younger kids though. Teens can come hang out at the library on Thursday, May 13th from 3:30-4:30PM and challenge their friends to a game of Wii Mario Cart. Sorry East Sac Dads, it’s just for your teens.
When I think Mother’s Day gifts from kids my mind immediately goes to noodle necklaces. I have a feeling it is because my own mother received more than her share of those over the years from me and my brothers. Flowers are nice too, but only last so long– unless the bouquet is made of pipe cleaners!
Your 5-12 year old can join Whole Foods on Saturday, May 8th from 11AM-12PM in making pipe cleaner flowers. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Participation is $5 and pre-registration is required. Click here to register. Moms, feel free to get some shopping done while you’re there (or maybe just visit the Starbucks in the parking lot with a good book?)
We’ll see you there!
