Second Saturday + Crocker Art Museum April Events

by

Have you ventured out to Second Saturday yet in 2010? With each passing month the evenings are warming up and thanks to daylight savings it is lighter later. April would be a great month to check out the local art scene with your families and there is no better place to begin your art walk than the Crocker Art Museum.

Second Saturday this month falls on April 10th and from 12-3PM families can enjoy a Children’s Film Festival at the Crocker. See films from around the world! Stay the entire afternoon or view just a few screenings of animation and live-action shorts. Second Saturday for Families is *FREE* with admission.

Following the Children’s Film Festival there will be a Teen Film Festival hosted by the Teen Action Team. From 3:30-5PM teenagers can enjoy short films about and starring teens. The Festival features nine recently released films, including Up Jump the Boogie and award winning A Summer Rain, ranging from animation to live action comedy drama and theatrical documentaries. This program is presented in partnership with the San Francisco International Children’s Film Festival. Space is limited and pre-registration is required for ages 13-17. Contact Emma Moore at emoore@cityofsacramento.org or call at 916.808.1961 to register. The Teen Film Festival is *FREE* with museum admission.

Since we’re on the subject of events at the Crocker, mark your calendars for Wee Wednesday on April 21st. Wee Wednesdays are designed for children ages 3-5 and the special adult in their lives. Encourage your early learner’s development through multi-sensory activities inspired by art and storytelling. There are sessions offered at 10:30AM and 1PM and although participation is *FREE* with admission, reservations are required. To register, call 916.808.1182 or email education@crockerartmuseum.org.

The Crocker Art Museum is located at 216 O Street in Downtown Sacramento. Museum hours are 10AM–5PM Tuesday through Sunday and 1st and 3rd Thursdays until 9PM. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for students and *FREE* admission on Sundays from 10AM-1PM. For more information click here or call 916.808.7000.

We’ll see you there!
