Six months ago we told you about the *FREE* Composting Seminars offered by the City of Sacramento so we’re back to remind you to check one out if you haven’t already. There are so many benefits to composting! You’ll save unnecessary waste from going into landfills, create ideal soil for your garden and teach your family to be environmentally responsible.
Here are the session dates and locations:
April 10 – Fremont Community Garden at 14th and Q Streets
May 1 – Neely Johnson Park Community Garden at 516 11th Street
September 18 – GEO Garden at 1221 South Avenue
October 9 – Southside Community Garden at 5th and W Streets
All sessions are from 8-10AM and pre-registration is NOT required. Participants will also be able to purchase compost bins from the city at a discount. For more information click here or call 916.808.5454.
In addition to the *FREE* seminars mentioned above, you can also attend a Composting Tutorial at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op on Sunday, April 18th from 10:30AM-12PM for only $5. The admission fee supports the Soil Born Farms Urban Agriculture & Education Project and during the class you’ll learn the basics to make compost in two weeks, six weeks, six months or one year. You can even bring in a sample bag of your yard waste for an individual consultation at the end of class! To register, click here.
Finally, since we’re on the subject of “green”, check out the Green Cleaning for a Healthy Household workshop being offered at the Co-Op *FREE* on Wednesday, April 14th from 6:30-8PM. Spring Cleaning is inevitable, why not learn techniques and products that can help you eliminate toxins from your home? To sign up for this workshop, click here.
We’ll see you there!
