Saving Sofia

Learn. Share. Grow. Meet. Support our community. Those were our goals in establishing East Sacramento Mom. Today’s post is all about that last one. Meet Jennifer and Hector Sanchez who are the East Sacramento parents of three boys aged 2, 5 and 6 1/2. The Sanchez’ are in the process of adopting a 1-year-old, Sofia, with Down syndrome from Eastern Europe. You can read more about the Sanchez family here.

Sofia is currently living in an orphanage and the cost of adoption will likely be upwards of $25,000. To support the Sanchez’ and their adoption of Baby Sofia, The Ranch House in Rocklin is hosting a crab feed and silent auction on Friday, March 19th from 6:30-9PM. Tickets for the four-course dinner are $50.

The Ranch House is the resident clubhouse located in the Whitney Ranch community in Rocklin. For more information check out the Saving Sofia blog or email

*UPDATE: Since writing this post we have learned that the crab feed tickets had to have been purchased by last Friday (oops) BUT we still wanted to leave this as today’s post in the hope that we can draw attention to the Saving Baby Sofia cause and *hopefully* encourage you to donate to her adoption. We hope you do!

We’ll see you there!

How do you and your family give back to the East Sacramento community?
