I am all for infusing cultural education into activities, and the Sacramento Turn Verein’s Karneval/Mardi Gras celebration is a perfect example. Food, drinks and immersion into the German culture; the Karneval is a fun family friendly event coming up this Saturday, February 6th.
Doors open at 6PM with dancing from 7-11PM and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. Families will have the opportunity to sample German food, beer, wine, champagne, “kaffee and kuchen” (coffee and cake.) $5 food and drink tickets will be provided for attendees in full costume– how much fun would it be to prepare for the event and have you children make their own masks?
You can read about the history of the German Karneval here and for more information about the 2010 Karneval/Mardi Gras click here or call 916.442.7360. The Sacramento Turn Verein is located at 3349 J Street.
We’ll see you there!
Do you do anything fun with your kids to celebrate Mardi Gras? Any arts or crafts? Favorite activities? We’d love to hear about them!
