2010 Art Beast Schedule is out!

If you haven’t already checked out the new Art Beast class schedule, here is a summary of a few of the classes offered. You can also find the class listings on our calendar page.

Tuesdays
Baby and Me Music and Movement (0 to 2):
10 – 10:30 AM
Infants, toddlers, and adults come together to sing songs, dance and create rhythm. Stomping, clapping, rocking, and raising voices in song, children learn the magic of creating music and of being together. 

Tiny Tappers (3 and up) 3:30 – 4:00 PM
This class teaches rhythm, coordination, terminology and is an introduction to basic tap fundamentals. Our main focus will be on the development of coordination, concentration, listening skills and self confidence through positive interactions. The classes are structured and paced for the beginning learner in a fun introduction to tap! 

Tap Dance (5 and up) 4:00 – 4:45 PM
This class teaches rhythm, coordination, terminology and an is an introduction to basic tap fundamentals. Our main focus will be on the development of coordination, self expression, listening skills, concentration, memory and self confidence through dance activities. The class stimulates physical, emotional and intellectual growth through fun tap steps! Children will have an opportunity for dance individually and learn about group work as they learn their routines. 

Wednesdays
Yoga and Creative Movement (All ages) 10 – 10:30 AM
A fun-filled and enriching class ensured to engage your young ones in exploring yoga, dance and music. This class is a wonderful way for children to begin practicing self expression in a healthy and creative way! Parents are welcome to join their children in the class. 

Eco Yoga (4 and up) 3:15 – 4 PM
Come and experience the beauty and power of children’s yoga. In Yoga, children not only connect with and strengthen their bodies, they also experience the self within. Through yoga, children cultivate self awareness, self esteem, a balanced nervous system, hand-eye coordination, body/mind balance, and optimized brain functioning, among countless other benefits. We will be exploring yoga techniques such as: asana (postures), mantra (sound), pranayam (breath) and relaxation through sharing stories about the vibrant local ecosystem. Come join us for our adventure integrating song, dance, music, art and sharing circle with Yoga & Nature Awareness. 

Thursdays
Beastie Song Circle (All Ages) 11 AM
Come raise your voice and wiggle at our Beastie Song Circle. Ryan or Lida will play a variety of sing-a-long classics and original tunes as children and their grown ups join in to create a magical morning of song.

 

Spanish Song and Play (2 and up) 4 – 4:30 PM
Children will develop vocabulary and an ear for the Spanish language as they play and sing in Spanish. Movement games will help children integrate the new words they are learning. The instructor is fluent in Spanish and will immerse the children in the sounds of this beautiful language. 

Hip Hop (4 and up) 4:30 – 5 PM
This class is all about feeling the rhythms, beats and letting your body move to the music. Students will enjoy dance games set to music. Hip Hop offers your child the opportunity to discover innovative ways to be in motion. Your child’s input is accepted and encouraged when it comes to creating dance moves, and the laughs and smiles at the end of the class are more important than a final dance product. Hip hop is a brilliant way to get great exercise, discover dance, and feel inventive! 

Fridays
Storybook Art and Fingerplay (2 and up)
10:30 – 11:15 AM 
Each class opens with gentle songs and fingerplay to capture the meaning of the songs. Smaller children often sit on their parents lap as they sing together. Next, we uses great children’s stories to launch into art, creating art to express the story’s themes. 

World Dance and Storytelling (All ages) 11:30 – 12 PM
Travel the globe with Sonja as she shares stories and folk dances from around the world. Sonja is a wonderful storyteller and carries on the oral tradition by sharing tales from around the world. In between, music from each land is played and a simple folk dance taught and danced in a joyful circle. Parents are welcome to join this class. 

Exploring Art with the Great Artists (4 and up) 2 PM
Children explore art and learn about the world’s artists in this workshop. Each week, an artist is featured. Children learn about the mediums and approaches the artists used, and then explore the methods themselves. They may mix egg yolk and crush pigment like Giotto to create their own paint. They may get up close with the flowers to create their own O’Keefe inspired blooms. 

Natural Childhood Crafts (4 and up) 3 PM
Model with bees wax. Fingerknit a scarf. Needle felt a woolen treasure. Make candles. Each week, the children will learn a new craft and take home a treasure they created with their own hands and vision. Grown ups are very much encouraged to join the class, learn the arts, and guide their child as they create!Classes are limited to 12 participants per session so be sure to arrive early or call ahead to reserve your space.     Together with everything that appears to be developing within this specific subject matter, your peveesctirps tend to be rather stimulating. Even so, I appologize, but I can not give credence to your whole suggestion, all be it exciting none the less. It appears to everyone that your opinions are not entirely rationalized and in fact you are yourself not even fully certain of your point. In any case I did appreciate reading through it.
