Sacramento River Cats Baseball

by

imagesTake me out to the ball game! This post is long overdue as the Sacramento River Cats season began in April, but don’t fret, there is well over a month left of bat-swinging, home-team-cheering, hot-dog-eating enjoyment to be had.

Our family makes a point to attend at least one game each season. We are baseball lovers (go Giants!) We also enjoy warm summer evenings with the crisp Delta breeze so River Cats games are right up our alley. As you can imagine, we’ve found that the day games work best for the little ones and older elementary-aged kids do fine with the evening games– as long as they are out of school for the summer and can sleep in the next morning.

Below is a list of the rest of the season’s home games, but click here for the full schedule.

Sunday, July 19 – 1:05PM
Tuesday, July 28 – 7:05PM
Wednesday, July 29 – 7:05PM
Thursday, July 30 – 7:05PM
Friday, July 31 – 7:05PM ($1 hot dog & ice cream!)
Wednesday, August 5 – 7:05PM

Sunday, August 23 – 1:05PM
Monday, August 24 – 7:05PM
Tuesday, August 25 – 7:05PM
Wednesday, August 26 – 7:05PM
Thursday, August 27 – 7:05PM
Friday, August 28 – 7:05PM ($1 hot dog & ice cream!)
Saturday, August 29 – 7:05PM
Sunday, August 30 – 1:05PM

One of the biggest reasons these are GREAT family friendly events is the huge grassy area in right field. You’ll want to go early and bring blankets and (low) chairs to get a good space. Bring your own shade and lots (and lots) of sunblock. You are even allowed to bring a small cooler of snacks to make sure to be prepared.

River Cats games are easy on the pocketbook too– lawn and “value corner” seats are only $7. You can purchase special “Family Packs” valid for August 8 and August 28 games for $56. The Family Pack includes…

  • 4 tickets to the game
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 4 sodas
  • 4 bags of chips
  • 4 desserts
  • 4 tickets to Fairytale Town
  • 4 tickets to the Sacramento Zoo

How cool is that??? Basically three family outings for $14 per person.

Noteworthy: Sundays are kids’ days at Raley Field where there are face painters, children’s activities throughout the park, and your child can run the bases after the game!
