Independence Day Celebrations

East Sacramento residents are fortunate to have the longest-running (continuous) parade west of the Mississippi taking place in the Fabulous Forties. A fire truck will lead the parade, beginning at about 41st and J streets, at 11AM. Come meet your neighbors, let the kids enjoy the games, live music, and all around FUN atmosphere! Then start planning your participation in next years’ parade.

Before the Fab Forties parade is the River Park Fire Cracker Parade which begins at Caleb Greenwood School at 10AM. There will be games, food and a bounce house at the park, as well as live music by Mere Mortals. For more information click here or email

If you’re up even earlier (and if you have children, of course you’re up early) you can participate in the 33rd annual Forth of July Fun Run which begins at 8AM near Glen Hall Park, winds through River Park and ends at the park. Best of all, it’s also FREE. There is a half-mile children’s run beginning at 7:45AM.

Why not make the rounds and hit up both? The River Park parade continues down Carlson drive and ends at Glen Hall Park. See you there East Sac Moms!

(Note: Check back next week for our recap and photos of this years parades.)
